REGISTERED PROVISIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST | COUPLES & FAMILY THERAPIST

As human beings, feelings of burnout, anxiety, or depression can arise at various points in our lives. Consulting a psychologist can be immensely beneficial in addressing these challenges.

Sophia Aarons

Sophia is deeply passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families as they navigate life’s challenges. She helps clients reframe and rewrite the stories they hold about themselves, fostering healing and growth.

Grounded in the belief that people are innately resilient, Sophia trusts that—with the right support—we can not only overcome hardship but grow through it. She recognizes that healing happens in connection and community, and she is committed to creating a compassionate space where clients feel safe, seen, and supported.

Sophia gently guides her clients toward greater self-compassion, deeper insight into relational patterns, and a more authentic way of living. Her work encourages the cultivation of meaningful relationships, the shifting of unhelpful dynamics, and the exploration of new perspectives.

Practicing from a humanistic, person-centered approach, Sophia values authenticity, cultural sensitivity, and non-judgment. She is dedicated to co-creating a therapeutic environment built on trust, empathy, and genuine care—where clients can show up as their full selves and feel truly held.

To meet the unique needs of each individual, Sophia takes an integrative approach, drawing from a wide range of therapeutic modalities. Her practice incorporates evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy, alongside elements of narrative therapy, mindfulness, and strength-based approaches. This flexible and holistic framework allows her to tailor care to each client’s unique goals, strengths, and lived experiences.

Sophia is a Registered Provisional Psychologist and a professional member in good standing with both the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She has completed Level 1 Training in the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy and is a certified Grief Recovery Specialist through the Grief Recovery Institute.

Sophia provides therapy for individuals aged 10 and up—including adults and seniors—as well as for couples and families. She supports clients navigating a wide range of concerns, such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma and PTSD, stress and burnout, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, postpartum depression, acculturative and immigration-related stress, and major life transitions.

Grounded in trauma-informed care and guided by deep compassion, Sophia offers a personalized therapeutic experience that empowers clients and fosters meaningful, lasting change.
