THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS

At Nova Psychology, we aim to provide a seamless and supportive assessment experience. Here’s what to expect:

Screening Questionnaire: To start, our admin team will send you a questionnaire via Jane or conduct a brief phone screener. This step helps clarify whether a formal assessment or informal consultation is the right fit for your needs. The screening questionnaire must be completed before being added to the waitlist. We also encourage you to review the assessment process outlined here to ensure you’re fully informed.

Complimentary Consultation: Once you’re on the waitlist and a spot becomes available, we’ll schedule a 15-20 minute phone consultation with a therapist who matches your needs. To ensure the consultation is productive, please complete your intake form in advance so the therapist has all the necessary background information.

Personalized Assessment Plan: After the consultation, your therapist will explain the assessment process in detail, including what each phase involves, how long it may take, and what to expect. This step is designed to ensure you feel supported and informed.

Estimate & Booking: You’ll receive a detailed estimate based on the expected time required for your assessment. To secure your booking, we require a deposit, which will be applied toward the total assessment cost. All details will be clearly outlined to ensure transparency.

Clinical Interview: This session, lasting 1-4 hours, allows your therapist to explore your history, experiences, and concerns in depth to build a complete understanding of your unique story.

Psychological Assessment & Testing: Tailored testing, typically lasting 1-3 hours, evaluates areas such as cognitive abilities, behaviours, symptoms, and overall functioning. Each assessment is customized to your specific needs.

Assessment Scoring & Report Preparation: Your therapist will carefully review your testing results and prepare a thorough, detailed report. This phase typically takes 2-3 weeks and is an essential part of providing accurate and meaningful insights.

Final Consultation & Debriefing Session: A 1-hour session will be scheduled to review the findings, answer any questions, and discuss potential next steps or treatment options.

Final Payment & Report Release: The full cost of the assessment must be paid before the debrief session. Your report will only be released once payment is complete.

Timeline: The entire assessment process, from completing the initial screener to receiving the final report, typically takes 4-8 weeks, depending on therapist availability, the complexity of the assessment, and how quickly each step is completed.

Our team is here to guide you every step of the way and answer any questions you may have. Your comfort and understanding are our priorities.
