MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST

Every individual possesses the inherent ability to achieve their highest potential. This conviction is the cornerstone upon which the transformative powers of vulnerability and healing are harnessed.

Lida Vatanpour

Lida is a Mental Health therapist who brings both compassion and a deep commitment to client-centred care in her work at Nova Psychology. She holds a Master of Counselling from City University of Seattle and a Bachelor of Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Dallas. Lida is passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life and is currently completing her registration requirements with the College of Alberta Psychologists.

Lida’s clinical experience includes her internship at The Family Centre in Edmonton, where she provided short-term and ongoing therapy to diverse populations. She is trained in evidence-based interventions and integrates a reflective, strengths-based approach into her work. Lida has also completed specialized training in trauma recovery, suicide intervention, and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), and is committed to continuing her education in areas that enhance client wellbeing and resilience.

Prior to entering the field of psychology, Lida held leadership roles in healthcare operations across Canada and the United States. With over a decade of management experience, she developed strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills—all of which now support her clinical work. Her background also includes extensive community involvement, including volunteer counselling for survivors of human trafficking and organizing grassroots programs focused on justice, interfaith dialogue, and children’s education.

Fluent in English and Farsi, Lida strives to create a warm, inclusive, and culturally sensitive environment for every client. She approaches her role at Nova Psychology with humility, curiosity, and a strong ethical foundation. Lida believes that healing is a collaborative process and feels honored to support clients on their journey toward growth, clarity, and emotional wellness.

Currently, Lida is able to direct bill to the following insurance providers: Alberta Blue Cross, ASEBP/ARTA, Medavie Blue Cross, SSQ Financial, Green Shield Canada, and Manulife.

LET'S GET PERSONAL

Outside of her professional life, Lida enjoys immersing herself in nature, exploring new hiking trails, and seeking out travel adventures that offer fresh perspectives and experiences. She loves discovering new cuisines and experimenting with creative recipes in the kitchen. A quiet moment with a great cup of coffee and a good book is something she truly savors. Most importantly, Lida finds her greatest joy in being a mom—a role she treasures above all else.
