REGISTERED PROVISIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST | CHILD & YOUTH THERAPIST

Every individual possesses the inherent ability to achieve their highest potential. This conviction is the cornerstone upon which the transformative powers of vulnerability and healing are harnessed.

Fiza Hussain

Fiza is a compassionate and dedicated mental health professional currently completing her Master of Education in Counselling Psychology at the University of Lethbridge. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Distinction from the University of Alberta, along with an Applied Social Science Research Certificate. Her academic path reflects a deep commitment to supporting others through evidence-based, inclusive, and culturally sensitive care.

Fiza provides therapy to individuals aged 10 and up—including adults, seniors, couples, and families—with a focus on trauma-informed, client-centered support. In her practicum at YWCA Edmonton, she works with survivors of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, family violence, and human trafficking, with particular attention to BIPOC and 2SLGBTQ+ communities. Her integrative approach draws on modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, mindfulness, and strength-based practices to meet each client’s unique needs and goals.

Fiza also brings a strong research background to her work. She has contributed to projects examining family-centered care for caregivers of adults with mental health diagnoses, and the accessibility of translation services for non-English-speaking survivors of domestic violence. Her research, presented at academic conferences and currently being prepared for publication, informs her thoughtful, interdisciplinary approach to care.

Committed to continuous growth and professional development, Fiza has completed specialized training in therapeutic play, grief and loss, trauma-informed care, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), among others. She is a member in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) and brings warmth, knowledge, and a strong ethical foundation to her work. Fiza is passionate about helping clients reclaim their stories and move forward with strength, self-compassion, and hope.

Currently, Fiza is able to direct bill to the following insurance providers: Alberta Blue Cross, ASEBP/ARTA, Medavie Blue Cross, SSQ Financial, Green Shield Canada, and Manulife.
