REGISTERED PROVISIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST | CHILD & YOUTH THERAPIST
Every individual possesses the inherent ability to achieve their highest potential. This conviction is the cornerstone upon which the transformative powers of vulnerability and healing are harnessed.
Fiza Hussain
Fiza is a compassionate mental health professional who believes in the healing power of connection. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in person centred care and informed by evidence-based interventions such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Therapeutic Play. She supports clients in exploring their values and discovering meaning, walking alongside them as they work toward what matters most.
Fiza works with clients facing a wide range of concerns including relationship concerns, cultural identity exploration, depression, anxiety, academic stress, domestic violence, childhood abuse and neglect, family violence, pet loss, self-esteem difficulties, life transitions, PTSD, and trauma. With a special passion for supporting children, Fiza embraces play as a child’s natural language. Through play she helps young clients express themselves, process their experiences, and build emotional resilience. She meets each client where they are and tailors her approach to their unique strengths and goals.
Her professional experience includes roles with organizations such as the Zebra Child & Youth Advocacy Centre and YWCA Edmonton. These opportunities have deepened her skills in working with diverse populations and strengthened her commitment to advocacy, accessible services, and culturally responsive care. Whether working with adults, children, or families, Fiza brings empathy, warmth, and authenticity to every session.
As a BIPOC practitioner, Fiza is mindful of how culture, identity, and lived experience shape mental health. She honours each client’s story and draws on both her clinical training and lived experiences of intersectionality to provide care that is culturally informed and person-centred.
Fiza holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Alberta and a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Lethbridge. Fluent in English, Urdu, and Hindi, she is committed to supporting clients in the language they feel most comfortable using, ensuring care is both accessible and culturally informed.
Currently, Fiza is able to direct bill to the following insurance providers: Alberta Blue Cross, ASEBP/ARTA, Medavie Blue Cross, SSQ Financial, Green Shield Canada, and Manulife.
