RAHUL JAMES
Rahul James holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, where his health-focused, policy-based program included an extensive practicum in Adult Inpatient Psychiatry. His coursework covered a wide range of topics such as Mental Health and Addictions, Interprofessional Psychosocial Oncology, Health Equity, Social Justice, and Social Work Leadership in Health Care. He also earned a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Calgary, Alberta, completing coursework in Children’s Mental Health, Human Sexuality, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Loss & Grief.
Rahul has extensive practicum experience, including his work at The Alex Community Health Centre and Mosaic Primary Care Network in Calgary. He provided comprehensive services ranging from home visits and court appearances to initial intake appointments and case management. Currently, he is a Social Worker II at The Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury, where he collaborates with team members to support patients and families through the admission and discharge processes. Rahul also offers his expertise at Luciak Counselling and Healing Journey Counselling, providing psychosocial services and specializing in EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Certified in a variety of therapeutic techniques and practices, including EMDR, the Gottman Method, LEAP, and Trauma Informed Care, Rahul’s commitment to professional development is evident through his continuous learning in areas such as Forensic Social Work, Applied Suicide Intervention, and Mental Health First Aid. His dedication to service is also reflected in his work with THERUVORAM NGO in Kochi, India, where he assisted in the rehabilitation of street children and the destitute, as well as at The Alex Community Health Centre, where he promoted independent living skills and provided culturally sensitive services.
A member of several professional associations, including the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, the Social Work Association of Alberta, and the International Federation of Social Workers, Rahul’s extensive experience and dedication to continuous learning make him a highly skilled and compassionate social worker.

Outside of his professional life, Rahul enjoys engaging in activities that promote personal growth and well-being. He is an avid reader, often immersing himself in books on psychology, philosophy, and personal development. Rahul also loves spending time in nature, finding peace and inspiration through hiking and exploring new trails. He values quality time with family and friends, and often engages in community volunteer work to give back and stay connected to his roots.
