Meet Veronica

B.SC., M.C., R.PSYCH

REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST | COUPLES THERAPIST | EMDR SPECIALIST

We are often moved so profoundly by our personal life experiences. Some experiences can shake the core of who we are on a mental, emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual level. It is this ripple effect that can challenge our ability to effectively cope and live a full and balanced life.

veronica (maria) DEL PERAL RAMOS

Veronica holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alberta and a Master of Counselling Psychology degree from City University of Seattle’s Edmonton Campus. Psychology has always been a passion for her, and helping others is something she strives for in her daily life.

With nine years of experience in the mental health field, Veronica has worked in various roles, including youth care counsellor, distress line listener, child intervention caseworker, one-to-one counselling, couples counselling, and crisis intervention. She loves supporting people through transitions towards healing. Currently, she offers individual (18 years and up) and couples counselling. Her passion lies in the lifelong journey of empowering people to process pain, find resilience, and foster hope.

Veronica considers herself a person-centered and strength-based therapist. She believes that her clients are the experts in their own lives, and her role is to support them, be curious, offer insight, and help organize their thoughts and emotions. This approach aims to create space for healing, processing, growth, and achieving one’s full potential for a wholehearted life. She has a special interest in working with individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Veronica understands that therapy can be challenging as it requires vulnerability, openness, honesty, and creating a trusting relationship with another. One of her main goals is to develop a relationship with her clients based on these qualities and work collaboratively to strengthen and empower them to regain their inner resilience and change their lives.

As a Registered Psychologist, Veronica is in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists, Psychologists’ Association of Alberta, and Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

At present, Veronica offers direct billing services to the following insurance providers: Alberta Blue Cross, ASEBP/ARTA, Medavie Blue Cross, Canada Life, Desjardins, Equitable Life of Canada, First Canadian Insurance, Green Shield Canada, Chambers of Commerce Group, SSQ Financial, and Manulife. Additionally, indirect billing is available for Pacific Blue Cross and Sunlife.

LET'S GET PERSONAL

Veronica is originally from Mexico and has been living in Canada since 2011. She loves reconnecting with her culture and experiencing new ones. Meeting new people has always been for her a window to a new world and a new way of thinking, so grabbing a coffee and sitting for a chat is something she enjoys. Veronica also loves spending time with her family, hanging out, and learning every day from her toddler. In her personal time, she processes her emotions and thoughts through quilting and sewing. Lastly, she loves to curl up on the couch and watch a good movie, TV show, or read a book to disconnect for a little bit.
