REGISTERED SOCIAL WORKER | COUPLES THERAPIST | EMDR SPECIALIST
Throughout our life journey, we might encounter periods of burnout, anxiety, or depression. Engaging with a mental health expert can greatly assist in effectively tackling and navigating these difficulties.
LORI THOMPSON
Lori is a registered social worker with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. Her career began by assisting families dealing with homelessness and addiction, igniting her interest in the correlation between early traumatic events and adult mental health issues.
She offers a compassionate and non-judgmental space to individuals facing relationship challenges, anxiety, grief, or depression. Lori works with adults, couples, teenagers, and families, specializing in complicated grief and assisting families with children exhibiting challenging behaviors.
Emphasizing the importance of emotional connection, Lori employs therapeutic models to help clients understand and manage their emotions, enhance interpersonal relationships, and cultivate meaningful connections. She aims to shift focus from self-blame to understanding the impact of past experiences.
Lori earned her Masters degree in Social Work from Howard University in 2000 and has been licensed with the Alberta College of Social Workers since 2011. Her extensive experience spans across various settings including non-profit organizations, hospitals, intensive day hospitals, and community-based mental health and addiction programs. Additionally, she has held managerial and clinical supervisory roles in public mental health programs.
Currently, Lori is able to direct bill to the following insurance providers: Alberta Blue Cross, ASEBP/ARTA, Medavie Blue Cross, Canada Life, Dejardins, Equitable Life of Canada, First Canadian Insurance, Green Shield Canada, Chambers of Commerce Group, SSQ Financial, Sunlife, and Manulife.
