Kari strongly believes in the power of human connection and works to cultivate a therapeutic relationship that is safe and transformative. Kari approaches her work not as an expert on your journey but as a fellow traveller that has the privilege to walk alongside you in your journey to heal. Kari recognizes that as human beings, we are all interconnected and inevitably face similar hurts, fears, and anxieties. Kari endeavours to learn about your challenges with empathy, develop a personalized treatment plan that is meaningful to you, and offer compassionate support as you move toward your goals.
To Kari, building a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship is an essential starting place. In her counseling practice, she offers respect, trust, honesty, kindness, and compassion to create a collaborative relationship with her clients. Within this relationship, Kari hopes to enhance human connection and help her clients build capacity for self-awareness, self-reflection, and self-acceptance.
Kari is dedicated to providing client-centered, dynamic, and holistic counselling services to adults, adolescents, and youth aged 12 and up. She is welcoming of all genders, identities, and cultural/spiritual backgrounds. She is passionate about supporting clients that are experiencing issues related to anxiety, depression, grief & loss, self-esteem, life transitions and relationships.
Kari’s training and experience support her ability to adapt treatment plans based on the client’s needs. Kari draws from an array of therapeutic approaches including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical-behavioural therapy (DBT), polyvagal theory for anxiety, depression, and trauma. Kari also utilizes interventions from narrative approaches, mindfulness, and strength-based approaches. Kari is committed to providing appropriate and evidence-based treatment based on the needs of her clients. Kari is also deeply committed to providing ethical treatment and will only offer services to client’s that are within her scope of practice.
Kari is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), and professional member in good standing with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Kari plans to obtain her provisional registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists in Fall 2023. Kari holds two undergraduate degrees in Religious Studies and English Language & Literate from the University of Calgary and has achieved her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Outside of Kari’s professional life, Kari loves spending time with her family, friends, and her two cats, Monty and Marley. Kari is passionate about travelling, good food, good drink, and a proper coconut latte. Kari practices self-care by meditating, pilates, swimming, building lego and puzzles, visiting museums, theaters and antique malls, reading on her patio, and listening to podcasts and music. Kari is also a passionate and continuous learner; always seeking opportunities to learn more about her profession to provide the best care to her clients. Kari believes that seeking inner fulfillment and being authentic in your interests will create richness in your personal life and enable you to present your best self in your professional life.
