Jahnavel Sánchez Noguez

Jahnavel Sanchez, BSW, RSW, MSW (Candidate) is a dedicated and compassionate social worker with a strong clinical focus in trauma-informed care. She brings over a decade of experience working across diverse systems including education, healthcare, and community-based organizations. Currently completing her Master of Social Work with a clinical specialization in trauma-informed practice at the University of Calgary, Jahnavel combines evidence-based interventions with a deep understanding of the psychosocial challenges faced by individuals and families navigating complex life circumstances.

Jahnavel is fluent in English, French, and Spanish and is committed to providing culturally responsive care to immigrant, refugee, Indigenous, and multilingual populations. Her recent clinical internship at Institut Guy Lacombe de la Famille involved designing and facilitating therapeutic groups in French for youth and women experiencing post-migration grief, stress, and loss. She skillfully integrates approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Expressive Art-Based Therapy to support emotional healing and resilience.

In her role with the Edmonton Catholic School District, Jahnavel provides trauma-informed, strengths-based support to students and families, helping them navigate mental health concerns, crisis situations, and access to services. She has also held leadership positions in mental health capacity building, project management, and community outreach. In these roles, she has led multidisciplinary teams, trained educators in mental health awareness, and designed systems of care that reach thousands of students and families across Edmonton.

Jahnavel is also a respected field instructor, trainer, and advocate for equitable access to services. Her passion for social justice and community wellness is reflected in her board work with the Francophone Family Resource Centre and her past service on the Greater Edmonton Health Advisory Council. With a calm and grounded presence, Jahnavel is deeply committed to supporting individuals in finding balance, growth, and meaningful change.

Currently, Jahnavel is able to direct bill to the following insurance providers: Alberta Blue Cross, ASEBP/ARTA, Medavie Blue Cross, Canada Life, Dejardins, Equitable Life of Canada, First Canadian Insurance, Green Shield Canada, Chambers of Commerce Group, SSQ Financial, Sunlife, and Manulife.
