Clinical Psychology Doctoral Candidate | Neuropsychology & Psychological Assessment SPECIALIST
As human beings, feelings of burnout, anxiety, or depression can arise at various points in our lives. Consulting a psychologist can be immensely beneficial in addressing these challenges.
DR. HARVEEN SEKHON
Harveen Sekhon is a clinical psychology doctoral candidate with extensive experience in neuropsychological assessment, rehabilitation psychology, and psychological interventions. She has trained in diverse clinical settings across Canada and the U.S., conducting comprehensive neuropsychological assessments for children and adults with cognitive and psychiatric disorders. Her expertise includes administering and interpreting psychological assessments, as well as working with individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries, neurological conditions, and mental health challenges.
In addition to her clinical work, Harveen has contributed to academia as a guest lecturer at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, teaching topics related to brain function and neuropsychological syndromes. She has served as a teaching assistant for multiple courses, including Advanced Assessment, Introduction to Neuropsychology, Personality Assessment, and Intellectual Assessment, where she provided feedback on assessments, mentored students, and conducted lab training. Her research focuses on the long-term psychological effects of traumatic brain injuries, with her dissertation examining how injury history and severity influence the development of psychiatric symptoms. She has also contributed to research on neuropsychological performance and bilingualism, presenting findings at conferences such as the California Psychological Association and the Western Psychological Association Annual Convention.
Harveen has actively engaged in mental health advocacy and education through her role as a Community Partnerships Program Developer, collaborating with school districts to design workshops on topics such as suicide prevention, trauma, and mindfulness. She has played a key role in developing psychoeducational materials for students, educators, and families, including trauma-focused content used by professional sports teams and charter schools. Her leadership extends to her involvement in the Social Justice Leadership Academy and the Psychological Assessment Club, where she has facilitated educational initiatives and recruited experts to enhance student learning.
Beyond her professional and academic commitments, Harveen is dedicated to supporting vulnerable populations through volunteer work. As a crisis responder, public educator, and mentor, she has worked with organizations such as Saffron Sexual Assault Centre, Crisis Text Line, and School on Wheels, providing direct support, education, and advocacy for individuals facing crises, trauma, and homelessness. Her contributions to clinical psychology and community service have been recognized through multiple scholarships and awards, including the International Global Leaders Scholarship, Leadership Fellowship, and Dean’s Honor Roll.
Harveen is a registered provisional psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) and the Psychologists Association of Alberta (PAA). She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta and obtained her master’s degree before pursuing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
